Rachel Nichols Leaves ESPN, So What Can We Look At Now?

Big news out of Bristol (and Atlanta) yesterday. Rachel Nichols is leaving ESPN and joining CNN and Turner Sports. She will have her own weekend show on CNN and be a sideline reporter for NBA and MLB games. This was announced yesterday (by mistake) on CNN’s twitter account. Nichols confirmed after it was posted. This leaves ESPN with a huge void now.

I will say this… she was my favorite ESPN face to look at. She was smart, sexy and a redhead. Now… I got nothing to look at on ESPN. I guess I can watch it for “sports” but they do a terrible job at covering that most of the time as well. Best of luck to Rachel at CNN/Turner Sports.

Thanks For Setting the Black Man Back

Rob Parker, you sir are an ass. As an African American male, that I’m guessing you would paint as a “cornball”, I am extremely disappointed in your on air comments. Who are you to judge an athlete based on his views on politics and the race of his fiancé? You do nothing more but divide the African American race even more by making comments like this.

For those that have not heard what happened on ESPN’s First Take, this is what happened:

Rob Parker: “But my question, which is just a straight, honest question, is: Is he a brother or is he a cornball brother?”

Cari Champion: “What does that mean?”

Skip Bayless: “Explain that.”

Parker: He’s not real. OK, he’s black, he kind of does the thing, but he’s not really down with the cause. He’s not one of us. He’s kind of black but he’s not really, like, the guy you want to hang out with because he’s off to something else.

Champion: “Why is that your question?”

Parker: “Well because that’s just how I want to find out about him. I don’t know because I keep hearing these things. We all know he has a white fiancée. There was all this talk about how he’s a Republican, which, I don’t really care, there’s no information at all. I’m just trying to dig deeper into why he has an issue. Because we did find out with Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods was like, I’ve got black skin but don’t call me black.”

Mr. Parker, let me explain something to you. Being black is not how one acts… It is a race that you are. He had to deal with the same things you had to deal with. He got treated the same way you got treated. He got the same looks that you got. Just because someone speaks proper English, might vote republican and has a white fiancé, doesn’t not make him any less black than you. After this, I am glad you lost your job in Detroit, and I will be glad when you lose your job with ESPN, because you are racist against your own type, and you sir, are the real cornball.

30k and Kobe won’t stop…

Kobe looking focused on driving into the hole… without permission as usual.

SBN - Kobe being Kobe and just shattering records, making jump shots and doing what ever it takes to get what he wants. You have to give Kobe credit, he not only hit the 30,000 point mark younger than Walt, Kareem and Jordan, but he does it like nobody can stop him. Driving the hole through 3 defenders and making the layup like its practice.

Although the lions are terrible and typically deserve loses on a normal basis, today was a replay of last year when the CJ catch in the end-zone was overturned. I don’t care that Schwartz threw the challenge flag and the play wasn’t reviewed because he threw the flag… fuck that. They should have called Forsett down, his elbow/knee and pretty much anything you need to touch the ground hit, yet the officiating crew decides to keep playing. Not only is this a constant for the lions getting rammed right in the hole, its a second time during the Thanksgiving day games that an officiating call pretty much cost them the game. Don’t give me the bullshit either that they should have made the fieldgoal in OT or that so much other shit should have been done by their offense… bottom line is that a TD was counted that nobody knows if it should have been.
